As I mentioned, it's 8.3 inches and is also larger than the Galaxy Z Fold3 when unfolded, but it is not an amazing quality display.

The problem with reviewing this device right now is that we have Apple's WWDC event just around the corner, where they'll announce all the new software.

Especially now that they've placed it in this central landscape orientation.

The front-facing camera is now mounted on the landscape edges, right on the sides of the iPads.

It's built around a 14.6-inch OLED display, which is larger than that of many laptops.

The Tab S9 Ultra's 120 hertz refresh rate makes movements on the screen, like swiping, extra smooth, and it's adaptive.

As far as brightness goes, we measured about 350 nits maximum when controlling it manually with the slider, and this can boost up to 640 nits in auto mode when needed.

The Tab S9 Ultra has a large 11,200 milliamp-hour battery, and the battery life is decent.

There is support for 45-watt wired charging, but as is typical for Samsung, you don't get an adapter in the box.

The interface here is Samsung's One UI 5.1, built on top of Android 13.

The main camera produces excellent daylight photos with a lot of fine detail, balanced sharpness, a wide dynamic range, and punchy colors.

The contrast is much worse when you're watching videos. It is a dramatic difference, as you can see.

Regardless of which iPad you choose, they basically run and play all the same apps and games.

Slightly frustratingly, the base storage option is just 64 gigabytes.

The real difference is the camera on the front. All the other iPads have cameras that are on the left-hand side when you're holding them in landscape mode, compared to this one, where it is perfectly centered.

The combination of the higher 12-megapixel camera and the improved processing of the A14 chip means we're getting much more detail.

It has a 12.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a 1752 by 2800 resolution, just like the regular S9, and supports up to a 120 hertz refresh rate.

I ran my typical battery drain test, and, yes, it is very similar to the regular Galaxy Tab S9, lasting just under nine hours before it died completely. This is more of an extreme usage scenario at 100% screen brightness.

I have been using it intensively with different apps, and I feel like the battery life is noticeably better compared to my S7 Plus and even my M2 iPad Pro.

The software here is going to be pretty much identical to the regular S9, just a little bit larger.

You can multitask with up to three apps simultaneously and resize any of the windows.

Dex mode gives you a more desktop-like interface, with a mouse cursor, a taskbar at the bottom, and resizable windows for that desktop experience.

If you already own the S7 or S8 series tablets, then I don't think the S9 is an absolutely necessary upgrade unless you want to be future-proof for new Android updates.

You can see the dual camera setup there in the back, which is very similar to what you see on some of the S23 series phones.

These Super AMOLED displays look phenomenal, and I'm really glad that people entering at that lower price tier can experience this.

These are high-density displays, so you're not going to see any pixels on them.

These also have a 120 hertz refresh rate, so you get some pretty smooth animations.

Samsung has improved the peak brightness across the board, making everything look even better.

In terms of battery, I've been getting around seven to eight hours of screen-on time, which I'm honestly happy about.

This supports 45-watt fast charging, and it will take about an hour and a half to fully charge.

You don't get a charging brick in the box anymore, so be sure to pick one up if you need it.

One addition that I love about this tablet is actually in Samsung's UI.

This year, they've added something they call Vision Booster mode for outdoor viewing.

These Galaxy Tabs have DeX built right into them. DeX is basically a different mode that gives you a Windows PC-like experience.

Samsung offers a lot of flexibility, but it can also be very overwhelming if you're not used to it.

The front-facing camera remains in the correct position when it is on top in the horizontal orientation.

The best new feature is probably that 13-inch display. It looks great and is cheaper than a 13-inch iPad Pro. To me, that's a win.

Speaking of which, it isn't nearly as good as the OLED of the iPad Pro, and it lacks ProMotion. However, it still looks solid and supports 100 nits of brightness, HDR, and True Tone.

Now, going back to the display for a second, this is the same Liquid Retina display that you will find on previous iPad Airs. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I am disappointed that they did not add the 120 Hz ProMotion technology to this display.

The Pixel Tab charges incredibly slowly, whether you're using the dock or a cable.

The good news is that when the tablet is docked and charging, it does max out at 90% battery life.

This tablet is running Android 13, and it will, of course, be one of the first devices to receive Android 14.

The app ecosystem for Android tablets is still lacking to this day.

You can quickly and easily enjoy split-screen action on the go if you want to run two apps side by side.

You've got an 8-megapixel front-facing camera neatly integrated into the bezel at the top of the display.

This can capture you at full HD resolution, which is great for a bit of Skyping, Zooming, or whatever you're doing.

There's also a second 8-megapixel camera on the back of the Google Pixel Tablet, and it's not very good at all.

It's that display, guys. We have run this thing through the gamut of tests in the lab, and I don't know how to put this other than to say it is on par, if not better, than any display that we have ever touched before.

It's basically the same, so they're not going to let this turn into a full-fledged computer because Apple has Macs to protect.
